Rifle River-Grousehaven Modern Campground
Rifle River Recreation Area
More Information
Planned improvements were completed ahead of schedule, which means the day-use area and pavilion are now open. The modern campground will close 9/2/24 through spring 2025 to upgrade the electric, water and lift station. The rustic campgrounds & cabins will remain open. A proposed $2.91 million in federal relief funding from Gov. Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan made these renovations possible.
The modern campgrounds features wooded sites spread between two loops. The Upper Loop overlooks Grousehaven Lake, and the Lower Loop is level with the lake. There is an accessible toilet and shower building, a designated swim beach and easy access to the park’s 14-mile multiuse trail.
About the Area
The AuSable River Scenic Byway is located 20 miles east of the park. Along this byway are many attractions, including Lumbermen's Monument Visitor Center and Iargo Springs.
