Metal Detecting: Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate recreation activity when it is conducted in ways that do not damage natural and cultural resources in Michigan state parks nor violate applicable state statutes. This park map clearly shows where this activity is allowed to take place. Any items found must be reviewed by park staff and may be retained for further investigation. Areas located within the campground are limited to registered campers only.

ORV Trails/Routes:

There is easy access to local ORV and snowmobile trails directly from the park. The park connects to Twin Lakes and Bewabic state parks and Bond Falls Scenic Site via several motorized routes.

ORV route and trail maps are available for purchase at the park (pending availability) or by visiting MI-TRALE.org (online maps of signed ATV, side-by-side and multi-use trails in the Western Upper Peninsula) or DNR’s interactive ORV route and trail map.

There is ORV/snowmobile vehicle and trailer parking located near the park headquarters.

Paddlesports Item is accessible.
Paddlesports: Paddling is a popular activity on Keweenaw Bay.
Pet-Friendly Area Item is accessible.
Pet-Friendly Area: Pets are allowed along the entire length of the Lake Superior shoreline (.25 miles). Pets must always be on a 6-foot leash and under an owner’s immediate control. All pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles.
Snowmobiling Item is accessible.
Snowmobiling:

There is easy access to local snowmobile and ORV trails directly from the park. The park connects to Twin Lakes, and Bewabic state parks and Bond Falls Scenic Site via several motorized routes.

Picnic Area: The picnic area is in the day-use area and includes picnic tables and charcoal grills that are available first come, first served.

Playground: The accessible playground boasts swings, a wavy arch for a touchy-feely experience, and a tree fort playscape complete with climbing rocks, triple and spiral slides, log steps, a balance beam, tree climbers, a spinning leaf, climbing nets, and connecting platforms. It all sits on a rubberized surface that makes access easier for persons of all mobility levels

Water Access:

Enjoy a quarter of a mile of rocky shoreline stretching along Lake Superior’s Keweenaw Bay. There are three concrete walkways that provide direct access to the lake.
