Aloha State Park

Campsites #1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29 and 54 are currently without electricity due to an unexpected issue. These sites are available at the semi-modern camping rate. Generator use is not allowed. Additionally, due to ongoing issues with groundwater, campsites 15, 18 and 19 are closed until further notice.

Aloha State Park is set along the northeast shore of Mullett Lake near the northern tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. It’s home to a modern campground, a boating access site, a designated swim beach and a protected boat basin where campers can leave their boats during their stay. The park is 5 miles south of Cheboygan via M-33, just 1 mile west via M-212.

Aloha State Park is set along the northeast shore of Mullett Lake near the Straits of Mackinac in the northern tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. It’s home to a modern campground, a boating access site, a designated swim beach and a protected boat basin where campers can leave their boats during their stay.

The lake is Michigan’s fourth-largest inland lake and the central point for the Inland Waterway, a chain of rivers and lakes that offers 38 miles of boating and paddling.

The 70-mile North Eastern State Trail, which runs from Alpena to Mackinaw City, borders the park and intersects with the North Central and North Western state trails.

The park is located near Cheboygan and is close to the Straits of Mackinaw, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Fort Michilimackinac and Old Mill Creek Historical Park.

Biking: Bikes are allowed on the North Eastern State Trail on the east side of park, which has a crushed limestone surface.

Fishing: Fishing is a popular activity on Mullett Lake.

Metal Detecting

Metal Detecting: Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate recreation activity when it is conducted in ways that neither damage natural and cultural resources in Michigan state parks nor violate applicable state statutes. This park map clearly shows where this activity is allowed to take place. Any items found must be reviewed by park staff and may be retained for further investigation. Areas located within the campground are limited to registered campers only.

Paddlesports

Paddlesports: There are paddling opportunities on Mullett Lake and along the Inland Waterway.

Snowmobiling

Snowmobiling: The North Eastern State Trail, located in the east side of the park, is open to snowmobiling Dec. 1-March 31.

Swimming

Swimming: A designated swim area is in the park’s day-use area and campground.

Boat Launch: A boating access site, located in the campground and open to the public, provides access to Mullett Lake from the park’s boat basin.
