Fishing: Lake Hudson, a 502-acre, man-made lake with a maximum depth of 25 feet, has a variety of fish species, including muskie, large-mouth bass, crappie and walleye.

Hunting:

Hunting is allowed in the state park; however, you should call this park directly to inquire about any special rules, concerns or considerations. The park features a no-wake lake popular for waterfowl hunting and native grass fields, part of a pheasant restoration project.

The park has an accessible hunting blind available to reserve (for free) mornings or afternoons on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 517-445-2265 or email poolej@michigan.gov.

Metal Detecting: Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate recreation activity when it is conducted in ways that do not damage natural and cultural resources in Michigan state parks nor violate applicable state statutes. This park map clearly shows where this activity is allowed to take place. Any items found must be reviewed by park staff and may be retained for further investigation. Areas located within the campground are limited to registered campers only.

Pet-Friendly Area: Pets are allowed along the entire length of Lake Hudson except for the designated swim beach .

Snowmobiling: The park is open to snowmobiling on open land (backcountry snowmobiling) when there are over 3 inches of snow on the ground. Snowmobiles are prohibited on park trails and in campground areas.

Boat Launch: A boating access site with a courtesy pier and kayak launch (coming fall 2023) are located at the far end of the day-use area.

Picnic Area: The picnic area is in the park’s day-use area and includes picnic tables and charcoal grills that are available first come, first served.
