Negwegon State Park is a rustic, undeveloped area popular with birdwatchers, hikers, backcountry campers, hunters and beachgoers. The 4,000-acre park features 8 miles of Lake Huron lakeshore, including 1 mile of beautiful sandy beach.
Home to a mixture of lowland areas, small ridges and pockets of open meadows, with a mix of mature pine, hardwood and aspen forest, the park is rich in unique plant species and wildlife, including bald eagles, Pitcher’s thistle, Blanding’s turtles and more.
Negwegon is also home to a designated dark sky preserve, providing awesome opportunities to view the night sky.The park is generously supported by the Friends of Negwegon. This nonprofit volunteer group works with the Department of Natural Resources to help preserve, protect and promote the park through stewardship, education and research.
