Boat Rental: Canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available for rent at the campground office Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, call 517-651-6217.

Disc Golf: An 18-hole course is in the day-use area on Lake Ovid. Discs are available for purchase at the campground office in the summer months. The course is open year-round.

Equestrian: There are two equestrian-friendly cabins, 12-plus miles of equestrian trails and a staging area located just past the campground entrance. Thanks to the Sleepy Hollow Trail Riders Association for maintaining the trails.

Fishing: Lake Ovid boasts a diverse fishery with muskie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish and more. There are four fishing piers on Lake Ovid.

Hunting: Hunting is allowed in the state park; however, you should call this park directly to inquire about any special rules, concerns or considerations.
Metal Detecting Item is accessible.
Metal Detecting: Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate recreation activity when it is conducted in ways that do not damage natural and cultural resources in Michigan state parks nor violate applicable state statutes. This park map clearly shows where this activity is allowed to take place. Any items found must be reviewed by park staff and may be retained for further investigation. Areas located within the campground are limited to registered campers only.

Paddlesports Item is accessible.
Paddlesports: Lake Ovid is popular with paddlers. There is a kayak launch located near the boating access site.
Pet-Friendly Area Item is accessible.
Pet-Friendly Area:

Pets are allowed along the entire length of the Lake Ovid with the exception of the designated swim beach. There’s a special pet-friendly beach just north of the designated swim beach.

Pets must always be on a 6-foot leash and under an owner’s immediate control. All pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles.

The modern and rustic cabins are pet-friendly. There is an additional fee of $10 per night/pet/cabin. Up to two pets (cats and dogs only) are allowed.

Snowmobiling: The park is open to snowmobiling on open land (backcountry snowmobiling). Snowmobiles are prohibited on park trails and in campground areas.

A designated swim area is in the park’s day-use area. There is a beach wheelchair available to use.

Boat Launch: The park offers easy access to the water, with an accessible boat launch and a kayak launch. Lake Ovid is a no-wake lake. Two fishing piers are also nearby.

Fishing Pier: There are four fishing piers located on Lake Ovid, including two near the boating access site, one at the designated swim beach and another near the campground.

Picnic Area: The picnic area is in the day-use area and includes picnic tables and charcoal grills that are available first come, first served.

Picnic Shelter: There are three picnic shelters (two adjacent to the designated swim beach and one in the east picnic area) that include picnic tables, charcoal grills and electrical service (only the ones near the beach). Playground: A playground – featuring slides, swings, Gaga ball pit and basketball courts – is adjacent to the campground. It’s open to all visitors via the beach parking lot. Additionally, there are swings located near the designated swim beach.
