Ocqueoc Falls Bicentennial Pathway
P.H. Hoeft State Park
More Information
The highlight of Ocqueoc Falls Bicentennial Pathway, located 11 miles northeast of Onaway in northeastern Michigan's picturesque Presque Isle County, is Ocqueoc Falls, the only publicly owned waterfall in the Lower Peninsula.
With four small rapids and a cool-water pool just perfect for splashing, people feel the urge to get in the water.
The site includes Ocqueoc Falls State Forest Campground (across the street), the pathway, the waterfalls and a picnic area.
The pathway is located 12 miles west of Rogers City via M-68.
The pathway
The nearly 6-mile pathway consists of four loops of varying lengths. The trail provides spectacular views of the falls, river and hardwood forests.
The trail system is marked with numbered loops at trail intersections.
Accessibility at the falls
Ocqueoc Falls is the first truly universally accessible waterfall in the nation. There's a paved trail from the parking lot to the waterfall, two accessible picnic areas and several accessible benches.
Access to the river is provided by either a ramp or a rock climb. Transfer platforms at the top and bottom of the bluff create three routes. A recycled, plastic-decked ramp, compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, leads to a transfer station into the falls.
