Merwin Creek State Forest Campground is now under the management of Schoolcraft County. Any concerns or questions about this campground should be directed to the County at the phone number identified above. This campground contains ten sites for tent and trailer use.

All sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations are taken. This rustic campground provides vault toilets and a potable water well.

Fishing: Manistique River (at campground): walleye, pike, bass, perch, bluegill, musky, lake herring, lake trout.
Indian Lake (13 miles southwest): walleye, pike, bass, perch, bluegill, musky, lake herring, lake trout.
Hunting Item is accessible.
Hunting: This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 ft. of an occupied dwelling. Learn more about hunting.
Paddlesports Item is accessible.
Paddlesports: Canoe or kayak one of the Michigan’s longest, undeveloped rivers. This river starts at Manistique Lake and flows southwesterly more than 70 miles, emptying into Lake Michigan at the city of Manistique. Suitable for paddlers of all skill levels, this twisty, sandy bottom natural river has depths ranging between two to ten feet. Outfitters in Germfask offer rental equipment for the non-boat owner and shuttle services for the boat owner.
