The planned park upgrades to the toilet and shower building, water/sewage systems, sanitation station and contact station, originally scheduled for an earlier date, will require the modern campground and lodge to be closed throughout the 2025 season. A proposed $5.4 million in federal relief funding from Gov. Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan made these renovations possible.

While we won't have an official DNR-planned Harvest Festival this year, we encourage festive site decorations and will close campground roads for trick-or-treating 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. We'll announce next year's festival dates later.

The modern campground is divided into two loops, the east and west loops. Most sites are generous in size and are shaded by oaks, maples, hemlocks and pines. The campground is located near a swimming beach, a small playground and sand volleyball courts. All sites have either 20- or 30-amp service, and a few sites have 20-, 30- and 50-amp service. There’s a connector trail near site #75 that links the campground and the park’s trails.

Swimming

Swimming:

A swim beach is located off the campground, via a short trail located between sites #21 and 23.

Please be mindful of Great Lakes beach safety and high-water safety. Pay attention to the beach flag warning system in designated swim areas; red flags indicate the water is unsafe and no one should swim in or enter the water.

Modern Restrooms: There is a modern toilet and shower building in each loop. The east loop location is accessible.

Playground

Playground: An accessible playground is located just outside the modern campground. It all sits on a rubberized surface that makes access easier for those of all mobility levels.

Sanitation Station: The park’s sanitation station is located along the entrance road to the campground. There is potable water available and two lanes.
