Rifle River-Group-Use Campground
Rifle River Recreation Area
More Information
Due to planned park enhancements – upgrading electric, water system and lift station – the Grousehaven modern campground is closed Sept. 2 through spring 2025. The rustic cabins are open year-round. The rustic campgrounds will open for the season April 15, 2025. A proposed $2.91 million in federal relief funding from Gov. Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan made these renovations possible.
This group-use campground can accommodate groups up to 100. The campground is large, wooded and features three different sites with firepits and picnic tables. A hand pump for potable water located is in the campground. The campground is across the road from the Rifle River. There is a trailhead offering easy access to the park’s multiuse trail.
About the Area
The AuSable River Scenic Byway is located 20 miles east of the park. Along this byway are many attractions, including Lumbermen's Monument Visitor Center and Iargo Springs.
