To improve electrical, sewer, park roads and the fishing pier, the Gun Lake Campground and beach house are temporarily closed. While most of the park remains open, there may be times when access is restricted due to construction. We anticipate reopening both sites in spring 2025. A proposed $5.5 million in federal relief funding from Gov. Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan made these and other renovations possible.

Located near beautiful Gun Lake, Yankee Spring Equestrian Campground is just 35 minutes south of Grand Rapids. It's also known as Horseman’s Camp and features a group fire circle, a nearby picnic shelter, vault toilets, a manure pit and a centrally located hand pump.

There are 25 campsites, several have corrals (site # 3,4,7,10,11,12,14,17,21,22,19 and 25) and the other sites have picket poles. In addition, a picnic table and fire circle can be found at each campsite. Reservations are available.

Yankee Springs Equestrian Trail offers roughly 10 miles of trails.

The camground and trails are maintained with the help of the Yankee Springs Trail Riders Association, which was formed in 1997 to preserve, protect and improve equestrian amenities at the park.

Equestrian: The park is home to approximately 10 miles of trails, including the 4-Mile Trail (bridle trial), the 6-Mile Trail and the 9-Mile Trail. Equestrian trails are managed and maintained by the Yankee Springs Trail Riders Association. Learn more about equestrian trails.
