The Hoeft Trail system consists of interconnecting loops totalling about 4 miles. The terrain is relatively easy, as it runs through a rolling, mixed conifer forest and along the Lake Huron dune edge. The trail system is marked with numbered loops at trail intersections.

Visitors can jump on the trail near the Sunrise Pavilion, just off the main parking lot in the day-use area.
