Highland-Equestrian Trails
Highland Recreation Area
More Information
The park’s 13 miles of equestrian trails meander through breathtaking woods, fields and marshes. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing as they ride by Teeple Lake or trot through the majestic hardwoods.
The trails consist of two loops. The east loop is relatively flat with wider trails. The west loop, located on the other side of Duck Lake Road, provides a more challenging ride with single track and hilly terrain. There are a few areas on the west loop where bike trails intersect. All trails are clearly marked for easy navigation.
There is an additional 1 mile of trail open to equestrians on the Cedar Creek Trail that connects the Rustic and Equestrian Campground to the east loop. Access is also available via the trail staging area (includes water, a vault toilet, a mounting block, picnic tables and a grill), located 1.5 miles from the M-59 entrance on Haven Hill Road at the site of the Edsel Ford Barn. There are marked spots for trailers.
