More Information
Rockport Recreation Area’s trail system encompasses a series of interconnected loops totaling about 20 miles. The trails cover varied terrain, including old logging roads, hardwood forest, lowland areas and more. A section of trail follows the lakeshore and goes through remnants of the 300-acre quarry, and a 1-mile section of trail connects to the Besser Natural Area. Along with giant pines, the natural area contains a ghost town, a shipwreck and more than 4,000 feet of Lake Huron shoreline.
The trail system is marked with numbered loops at trail intersections.
Ther are two trailheads, including one from the main parking lot and another from the Besser Natural Area parking lot off of Grand Lake Road.
