Hopkins Creek Equestrian State Forest Campground and Trail Camp
This rustic equestrian campground is located in the heart of the Manistee State Forest and provides access to many miles of equestrian trails. Located in Missaukee County, 5.5 miles north of Arlene via M-42 and Lucas Road.

The rustic equestrian campground is in the heart of the Manistee State Forest with access to many miles of equestrian trails and state forest roads suitable for horseback riding. The trails offer water crossings and varied terrain for both experienced and non-experienced riders. The state forest campground is a stop along the Shore-to-Shore Trail, a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding, that stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails. Hopkins Creek State Forest Campground is located within a few miles of the campground.
There are 16 designated sites and a group camping area that can accommodate tents and small trailers. The group camping area maximum capacity is 108 individuals. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. There is also a submersible pump that requires a 5,000-watt generator. The campground is located 5.5 miles north of Arlene via M-42 and Lucas Road. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
