DNR Pocket Park
The park is located on the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds in Escanaba and open seasonally. The 1-acre park features a fishing pond (stocked with bluegills for catch-and-release fishing), archery and pellet gun ranges, a fire tower, a waterfall and a dozen specialty garden.s There is no charge.

The DNR Pocket Park is located off U.S. 2 within the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds. The park features a fishing pond (stocked with bluegill for catch-and-release fishing), archery and pellet gun ranges, a fire tower, wildflower gardens and a picnic area.
The park caters to children who can learn about the wonders of our outdoor recreation heritage and draws patrons of the Upper Peninsula State Fair, which runs for one week each August.
Operating dates
The park is open May 25 – Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Closed on Mondays.
There is no admission fee.
Guidelines:
- There is no cost for the use of the DNR Pocket Park and hours for special events can be flexible, depending upon the request and availability of staff.
- Children and children’s groups must be accompanied by adults and supervised at all times.
- Fishing poles and archery and pellet gun equipment are provided; however, fishing bait must be supplied by users.
- Food and drink may be brought in for picnics and special events.
