Onaway-Modern Campground
Onaway State Park
More Information
The park’s modern campground includes the lower and upper campgrounds. The upper campground is nestled in towering white pines, while the lower campground is surrounded by cedar trees. The lower campground offers sites on the lake, and the east side of the upper campground provides views of the lake. Please keep in mind that the modern restrooms and showers require a short walk from the lower campground.
About the Area
Just 10 miles east of the park is the picturesque Ocqueoc Falls, the largest waterfall in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The area is also known its sinkholes. Formed when springs eroded the soft bedrock, these sinkholes are now filled with trees, flowers and wildlife. The nearby city of Onaway has been designated the "Sturgeon Capital of Michigan." Old Mill Creek Historic State Park and Fort Michilimackinac, a restored 1700's community, is about 45 miles away.
