Sleepy Hollow-Horse Trail
Sleepy Hollow State Park
More Information
The 12.5-mile trail includes three loops through grassland, pine stands and picturesque forests. A favorite feature is the arched, 100-foot bridge along the south loop that leads to a multi-use trail. Please note that the glacial outwash soils can be soft and slippery when wet.
The equestrian staging area, located at the north end of the park, includes a pavilion, mounting blocks, picket poles, picnic tables, pit toilets, a manure pit and water from a hand pump. A seasonal portable toilet is located near letter O/Site F on the trail map. Horses are not allowed in the lake or creek.
Some sections of the trail are multi-use and are shared with mountain bikers. Hunting is allowed during designated seasons, and visitors are encouraged to wear orange. Dog sledding is also allowed on the trails.
The trails and staging area are maintained with the help of the Sleepy Hollow Trail Riders Association.
