State Wildlife and Game Areas Information

Rules and regulations for wildlife /game areas:
Public land users and hunters/trappers are required to be aware of
all rules and regulations relevant to their specific activities and locations.
Applicable land rules and regulation details can vary by type and landowner:
• On
State Wildlife Areas (SWA), State Game Areas (SGA),
and State Wildlife Research Areas (SWRA) types - see
SWGAs rules/regulations reminders 1-page [pdf] or the
SWGAs multipage reminders [pdf]
with links to exact legal-language from
complete rules/regulations for all DNR lands.
•
On wildlife management areas or co-management areas on
State Forest cooperative lands, the
DNR State Forest rules and regulations apply.
•
On wildlife management areas or co-management areas on
State Parks & Recreation lands, the
DNR State Parks & Recreation Area rules and regulations
apply plus parking requires the
MI Recreation Passport.
•
On Federal, County or private-ownership cooperating lands -
the DNR State Game Area rules and regulations do not apply on these areas;
The appropriate land rules and regulations apply based on
the specific landowner and administrator of the specific cooperative area.
•

hunt drawing directions.

These are rustic natural landscapes used for a variety of public recreational activities
including hunting; throughout the year there are possibilities for loud sounds during
hunting seasons and possible strong smells from nature and recreation activities.
